Irufire
IRUFIRE. A Fire Retardant varnish for Wood
according to your requirements
Real protection EN 13501-1
The surface combustibility of wood is the weak point in its fire behaviour. The option of applying fire-resistant coatings for protection is an important factor to take into account.
A fire-retardant varnish can be applied on walls, ceilings and floors. Using coatings in construction is crucial for enhancing the fire performance of wood.
What are the benefits of timber construction?
Timber is the only building material that helps reduce CO2 in the atmosphere, and therefore plays a role in mitigating climate change. This makes it the construction alternative with the lowest carbon footprint. But it also has many benefits (structural strength, sustainability, greater thermal and acoustic insulation, etc.).
How do I protect wood from fire?
Its fire behaviour is often better than that of other materials. Treating the wood with a high-quality fire-retardant wood varnish can significantly improve the only weak point of this behaviour, i.e. its surface combustibility.
What standards do IRUFIRE varnishes comply with?
At Irurena, we have successfully achieved a range of IRUFIRE varnishing processes to protect wood with outstanding results in terms of reaction to fire according to the European EN 13501-1.
In the following video, you can check the effectiveness of solvent-based and water-based fire retardant varnishes on wood. In this comparison between three wooden structures, one of them has no type of fire retardant treatment, while the other two are treated with fire-retardant varnishes from Irurena, one solvent-based and the other water-based.

Solvent-based fire-retardant varnish processes for walls and ceilings
IRUFIRE REAL & INTEGRAL B-s1,d0 PUR Fire-Retardant Varnish
Process based on two-component acrylic products developed for wooden substrate finishes and derivatives without any previous fire-retardant treatment. Elevating the D-s2,d0 rating of a wood using IRUFIRE REAL & INTEGRAL B-s1,d0 PUR will ensure a B-s1,d0 rating.
IRUFIRE ISOLATOR II-1 + IRUFIRE REAL & INTEGRAL B-s1,d0 PUR Fire-Retardant Varnish
Process based on two-component acrylic products to improve the IRUFIRE REAL & INTEGRAL B-s1,d0 PUR process.
IRUFIRE REAL B-s1,d0 PUR Fire-Retardant Varnish
Two-component acrylic process developed for wood substrate finishes and derivatives without any previous fire-retardant treatment for all types of wood-based substrates. If you want to increase the D-s2,d0 classification of the wood, with IRUFIRE REAL B-s1,d0 PUR you will achieve the B-s1,d0 classification.
IRUFIRE INTEGRAL B-s1,d0 PUR Fire-Retardant Varnish
Two-component acrylic products developed for finishing fire-retardant treated wood substrates with B-s1,d0 rating. IRUFIRE INTEGRAL B-s1,d0 PUR maintains the substrate’s rating.
Water-based
Water-based fire-retardant varnish processes for walls and ceilings
IRUFIRE REAL B-s1,d0 AQUA Fire-Retardant Varnish
Two water-based bicomponent product process. Made up of a transparent amine-based undercoat and a transparent acrylic finish. If you want to increase the D-s2,d0 classification of the wood, with IRUFIRE REAL B-s1,d0 AQUA, you will achieve the B-s1,d0 classification.
IRUFIRE INTEGRAL B-s1,d0 AQUA INT Fire-Retardant Varnish
Varnishing process based on a one-component water-based acrylic product developed for wood substrate finishes with fire-retardant treatment of B-s1, d0 classification. IRUFIRE INTEGRAL B-s1, d0 AQUA INT maintains the substrate classification.
Water-based fire-retardant process for floors
IRUFIRE REAL FLOORING Bfl-s1 AQUA Fire-Retardant Varnish
Process based on two-component water-based fire-retardant varnishes. The process consists of an acrylic undercoat and a polyurethane finish and has been developed for varnishes for indoor wood and parquet floors with Bfl-s1 rating.
